President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for a high-level diplomatic tour, attending the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the 7th African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Summit in Luanda, Angola.
The President’s first stop is Johannesburg, where South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will host the G20 Summit on November 22–23 under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”
Leaders from the world’s 20 major economies, the European Union, the African Union, and invited guests will tackle pressing global issues, including inclusive growth, trade, development financing, debt relief, climate change, energy transitions, food security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and decent work.
On the sidelines, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold bilateral talks aimed at advancing Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, strengthening economic partnerships, and promoting peace and security in West Africa and beyond.
Immediately after the G20, the President will proceed to Luanda for the AU-EU Summit on November 24–25.
The biennial gathering will bring together African and European leaders, youth innovators, and civil society to chart cooperation on climate action, infrastructure development, digital transformation, manufacturing, creative industries, and agribusiness.
Accompanying President Tinubu are key ministers: Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Solid Minerals Development Dr Dele Alake, Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Jumoke Oduwole, and National Intelligence Agency Director-General Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The President is expected back in Nigeria after concluding both engagements.
