The presidency has announced plans to hold a national entrepreneurship dialogue next month.
The engagement, which comes amid a plethora of challenges,
is tagged ‘Dear Entrepreneurs, We See You, We Hear You’.
In a statement on Wednesday, the presidency said the
initiative, launched under President Bola Tinubu’s ‘renewed hope’ agenda, will
hold on December 4, 2025.
The presidency said the dialogue aims to bring together
entrepreneurs from across Nigeria, ranging from micro and small business owners
to leading industrial and tech innovators, for an open dialogue with the
government.
Speaking on the upcoming event, Chalya Maryam Shagaya,
senior special assistant to the president on entrepreneurship development
(communications, innovation and digital economy), described it as “a defining
moment to strengthen collaboration between government and the nation’s job
creators”.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to building a
1 trillion dollar economy driven by innovation, enterprise and inclusive
growth.
The presidential aide said her team had engaged with
entrepreneurs across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing,
technology, creative industries, fashion, renewable energy, education,
insuretech, fintech, oil and gas, and innovation.
According to Shagaya, the engagements revealed both the
resilience and challenges within Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape, offering
key insights that inspired the dialogue.
“This administration has demonstrated an unwavering
commitment to advancing entrepreneurship as a driver of national
transformation,” she said.
“This dialogue is not just a conversation, it is a call to
action to refine, realign and reinforce the policies that empower Nigerians to
build, innovate and create value.”
The special assistant noted that Tinubu’s background as an
entrepreneur and nation builder lends authenticity and significance to the
initiative.
“Long before public office, his excellency demonstrated a
deep understanding of how innovation and enterprise fuel prosperity. His
leadership continues to inspire a new generation of business builders who
believe in the promise of Nigeria,” she said.
Shagaya restated her office’s commitment to ensuring that
the dialogue reflects the government’s belief in the power of Nigerian
entrepreneurs to build a more prosperous and resilient economy.
According to the statement, the event will feature
interactive sessions between policymakers, business leaders, investors, and
innovators, giving participants the opportunity to share their experiences and
practical insights directly with government officials.
Discussions are expected to focus on improving access to
finance, enhancing the ease of doing business, fostering industrial growth,
driving digital innovation, and scaling creative and emerging enterprises.
The presidency said the engagement will conclude with a
presidential address by Tinubu, “reaffirming his administration’s commitment to
inclusive growth, enterprise development, and achieving a $1 trillion economy
under the Renewed Hope Agenda”.
