The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismissed reports that it plans to investigate Samuel Ojeogwu, the brother of Regina Daniels, over drug-related allegations.
The speculation arose amid a public and escalating feud
between the actress and her husband Ned Nwoko.
Last week, Daniels admitted to using hard drugs, but turned
the accusation back on her husband, alleging he orchestrated her addiction as
part of a pattern of control and manipulation.
The Nollywood star described her husband’s
counter-accusation — that her family introduced her to drugs — as a “calculated
distraction” from her primary allegations of domestic violence and
imprisonment.
She accused the lawmaker of collaborating with his doctor to
have her injected with drugs meant for bipolar disorder, stating he preferred
her more compliant and “sexier” while medicated.
The politician, in turn, specifically pointed to Samuel,
better known as Sammy West, as a “negative influence,” alleging that he enabled
her access to drugs.
However, when contacted by TheCable Lifestyle for comment,
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, denied any ongoing
or planned action by the agency.
Responding to inquiries about the NDLEA’s plans concerning
the Daniels family drug matter, Babafemi stated simply: “no such thing”.
Sammy, who was recently granted bail, was previously
detained following a series of allegations, including criminal conspiracy,
trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
The police in Abuja said he was accused alongside three
other suspects, and his arrest came after he allegedly ignored several
invitations for questioning.
