NBC concludes Nigeria-Cameroon boundary mapping

The National Boundary Commission says it has concluded mapping of the international borderlines between Nigeria and Cameroon and is set for final demarcation.

Director General of the Commission, Adamu Adaji disclosed this in Adamawa, one of the states in Nigeria sharing borders with Cameroon.

Adaji said his delegation was in Adamawa to tell the government and the people that the commission has concluded the mapping of the boundaries and will start demarcation next year.

Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Benue, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom are the states on the border edges of Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon.

Collectively called frontline states, they collaborate under a joint forum called Boundary Committees of the Frontline States along the Nigeria-Cameroon International Border, with the Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa Farauta, as chairman.

Farauta who received the Nigeria Boundary Commission delegation to the state, reiterated the support of the government for the success of the planned boundary demarcation.

Speaking at a reception for the delegation in her office in Yola, Farauta said that already residents of communities along the border have been sensitized on the need to cooperate with officials from both Nigeria and Cameroon as they would be doing their work.
