Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Wednesday presented a budget estimate of ₦914,863,422,871.00 only for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, pledging transparency, accountability, and continued collaboration in driving the State’s developmental agenda.
The presentation, which followed a brief plenary session by the lawmakers, also featured the presentation of the State Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for 2026–2028.
These documents, the Governor explained, are aimed at ensuring sustainable planning, efficient resource allocation, and fiscal discipline across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In his address, Governor Mutfwang emphasised that the proposal was carefully designed with “diligence, vision, and a deep sense of responsibility,” reflecting the administration’s commitment to prudent governance and effective service delivery.
He reviewed the performance of the 2025 budget, highlighting key revenue mobilisation efforts and fiscal reforms undertaken to boost internally generated revenue and ensure judicious utilisation of public funds.
Appealing to the lawmakers for their continued cooperation and prompt consideration of the budget, Mutfwang stated, “Your expeditious passage of the budget, after due legislative process, will further demonstrate our shared commitment to responsible governance and timely service delivery to the people of Plateau State.”
He expressed gratitude to the House of Assembly for its consistent support and partnership in sustaining democratic stability and driving the collective developmental vision for the state. “I salute your courage, forthrightness, and resilience,” the Governor said, urging continued unity and collaboration for the good of citizens.
Calling for citizens’ participation, Mutfwang stressed that rebuilding and transforming Plateau State was a collective responsibility that transcended political differences and urged residents to unite in purpose, uphold peace, and contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.
“The future and destiny of our dear state rest in our collective hands,” he said. “Our doors remain open to constructive criticism, fresh ideas, and meaningful contributions that can further advance our developmental goals.”
In his response, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr Naanlong Daniel, commended the Governor for his detailed presentation and assured that the lawmakers would give the budget a speedy but thorough consideration.
Daniel reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to robust collaboration with the executive arm, emphasising that every decision would prioritise the welfare and interest of Plateau citizens.
