Military Rescues 12 Abducted Girls from ISWAP Terrorists in Borno State

Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued 12 young girls abducted by ISWAP terrorists in Mussa District, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.


The victims, aged between 15 and 20, were kidnapped on November 23 while working on their families’ farmlands to harvest crops. 


The abduction sparked widespread fear, prompting many residents to flee the area for safety in nearby communities.


The rescued girls have been identified as:

  1. Fatima Shaibu (17)   
  2. Fatima Umaru (15)   
  3. Hauwa Abubakar (18)  
  4. Saliha Muhammed (15)  
  5. Sadiya Umaru (17)  
  6. Amira Babel (15)  
  7. Zara Adamu (17)  
  8. Nana Shaibu (15)  
  9. Zainab Musa (18)  
  10. Zainab Muhammed (17)  
  11. Jamila Saidu (15)  
  12. Hauwa Hamidu (17)

Following the rescue, the girls were immediately taken to a secure military facility where they are undergoing medical checks and profiling. 


They will soon be reunited with their families.The operation is part of intensified military offensives in southern Borno, targeting remaining ISWAP elements behind persistent attacks and abductions in the region.


Parents of the rescued girls expressed profound relief, with many describing the news as an “emotional breakthrough” after days of anguish and uncertainty.
