The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the attack on Maga Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, GGCSS, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, where terrorists abducted an unconfirmed number of female students.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris,
confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that the government was still
compiling details of the attack.
The late-night assault left the vice principal, Malam Hassan
Yakubu Makuku, dead, while several others sustained injuries as students fled
in panic.
Deputy Governor Umar Tafida visited the scene alongside
security operatives and senior government officials to assess the situation and
coordinate an immediate response.
Security personnel have since been deployed to track the
attackers and secure the school environment. The state government has urged
residents to remain calm as rescue operations continue.
Officials are also liaising with the families of the
abducted students, while medical attention is being provided for the injured.
Governor Nasir Idris condemned the attack, describing it as
a tragic assault on education and public safety. He assured that security
agencies have intensified operations to rescue the abducted students and
prevent further incidents in the area.
