Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday hosted the Deputy Chief of Mission of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Hon. Zhou Hongyou, in a courtesy visit that underscored deepening economic ties between the state and China.
In a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Chinese diplomat praised Kano’s strategic importance as one of Africa’s foremost commercial and economic hubs.
Hon. Zhou Hongyou emphasized that the visit reflects Beijing’s recognition of Kano as a critical center for trade and investment on the continent.
He commended Governor Yusuf’s focus on security and the welfare of citizens, noting that these priorities create an attractive environment for foreign investors.
The diplomat highlighted the robust 60-year diplomatic and economic relationship between Nigeria and China, with more than 100 Chinese companies actively operating across the country.
He singled out Kano as a prime destination for expanded Chinese investment in the coming years.In response, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for China’s enduring friendship and substantial contributions to Nigeria’s development.
He pointed to Chinese investments in construction, commerce, technology, and industry as key drivers of progress in Kano.
Describing Kano as the economic heartbeat of northern Nigeria and a major player across Africa, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security, inclusive governance, and investor-friendly policies.
Governor Yusuf pledged to further deepen collaboration with both the Chinese government and private sector, stating that communication, business expansion, and people-centered social cooperation are cornerstone priorities of his agenda.
He stressed that all partnerships pursued by his administration are designed to deliver tangible benefits directly to the people of Kano State.
