Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has declared the South-South region indispensable to Nigeria’s maritime ambitions, pledging sweeping federal investment in coastal infrastructure.
Receiving the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) delegation led by Managing Director Usoro Akpabio in Abuja, Oyetola hailed the zone’s extensive coastline, strategic seaports, and rich aquatic resources as the backbone of the nation’s blue economy.
In a statement by Special Adviser Bolaji Akinola, the Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to modernize existing ports and collaborate with states on new deep seaports to anchor the region’s economic surge.
Akpabio applauded Oyetola’s transformative leadership and confirmed SSDC’s full partnership with the Ministry to roll out blue economy initiatives that spur growth, deepen integration, and uplift livelihoods across the South-South.
