Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Abeokuta residence on Sunday, in a reconciliatory move just days before Fayose’s 65th birthday on November 15.
Photos shared on X by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, showed the two leaders in cordial interaction, a stark contrast to their long history of political rivalry.
One image captured Obasanjo, dressed in a white traditional outfit and green cap, playing Ayo, the traditional Yoruba board game, with Fayose.
The visit follows a series of high-profile engagements for Fayose, including a courtesy call from former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday.
Osinbajo explained that he visited early because he would be unavailable on the birthday.
The duo exchanged warm pleasantries and discussed national issues, with Osinbajo praising Fayose’s courage and consistency in public life.
Fayose thanked Osinbajo, calling the gesture a symbol of respect and friendship beyond political divides.
