The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared Ufoma Joseph Immanuel, Managing Director and CEO of Chappal Energies, wanted for alleged obtaining money by false pretence and forgery.
In a public notice released Wednesday, the anti-graft agency published Immanuel’s photograph and details, stating:“UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL is wanted by the EFCC in an alleged case of Obtaining Money by False Pretence and Forgery.”
The 46-year-old Edo State indigene was last known to reside at 77 Nelson Mandela Street, Maitama, Abuja.
Members of the public with information on his whereabouts are urged to contact any EFCC office nationwide or call the hotline 08093322644 or email info@efcc.gov.ng.
Immanuel, a founding partner of Chappal Energies, was appointed CEO in January 2021. The company made headlines earlier this year when an $860 million asset divestment deal from TotalEnergies collapsed after Chappal failed to meet payment obligations.
The EFCC has not disclosed specific details of the alleged fraud but confirmed the case is active and investigations are ongoing.
