The Department of State Services (DSS) has rearrested Abdulazeez Obadaki, a senior Ansaru terrorist leader accused of masterminding the August 7, 2012, mass shooting at a Deeper Life Bible Church near Okene, Kogi State, where 19 worshippers, including the pastor, were killed.
Obadaki, alias Bomboy, is also linked to the February 2022 daylight robbery of five banks in Uromi, Edo State, which left several police officers and customers dead and hundreds of millions of naira stolen.
Security sources revealed that Obadaki orchestrated the July 2022 Kuje Custodial Centre jailbreak after his transfer from Kabba prison in June 2022, enabling his escape.
Following a precise intelligence-led operation, DSS operatives recaptured him on Friday morning after over three years on the run.
The arrest follows the DSS arraigning five suspects in September 2025 over the June 2022 St. Francis Catholic Church attack in Owo, Ondo State.
Under its current leadership, the DSS has intensified operations, securing multiple high-profile terrorist captures and expediting prosecutions nationwide.
