Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin Mourns Senator Okey Ezea


The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator Okey Ezea, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District.Senator Ezea, a lawyer and businessman, died in Lagos on Tuesday after a brief illness.


Elected on the platform of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, the late Senator Ezea served as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD, as well as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture and Creative Economy.


In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the deceased as a true pan-Nigerian politician who dedicated his life to fostering unity and national progress.


“The death of Senator Okey Ezea is a painful loss to the Senate, the people of Enugu North, and indeed the entire nation,” Barau said.


 “He was a detribalised Nigerian whose contributions to legislative work and the promotion of African integration and creative economy will be greatly missed.”


The Deputy Senate President prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed lawmaker and asked God to grant his family, constituents, and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
