The Bayelsa State Government has taken delivery of a brand-new ATR 72-600 aircraft configured to carry 72 passengers and crew.Governor Douye Diri unveiled the aircraft on Wednesday, announcing that the state will soon commence commercial flight operations under a partnership with Pioneer Airline, which will manage the new state-owned carrier.
Speaking at the unveiling, Governor Diri described the acquisition as a strategic move in line with Bayelsa’s aviation capacity-building efforts and broader economic development goals.
Also present at the event, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Samuel Ogbuku, pledged full support and partnership with the state government to drive development across Bayelsa and the Niger Delta region.
