APC Slams PDP's "Reckless" Call for Trump Intervention in Nigeria as Unpatriotic Ploy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently condemned a factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for urging former U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene in Nigeria, branding the appeal as "irresponsible, unpatriotic, and a dangerous threat to national sovereignty.

"In a fiery statement issued Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka accused Tanimu Turaki, who was declared PDP National Chairman by a splinter faction just 72 hours ago, of desperation amid his party's deepening internal crisis.

Turaki had called on foreign powers, including Trump, to step in to halt an alleged "Christian genocide" and safeguard Nigerian democracy.

Morka's statement described Turaki's remarks as "confused, incoherent, and grossly lacking in stamina," portraying them as a shameless bid to distract from the PDP's "self-inflicted" turmoil.

"For a man declared National Chairman barely 72 hours ago by a faction of his deeply fractured party, Turaki looked and sounded desperate, at his wit's end," Morka wrote.

The APC highlighted the irony, noting that during the PDP's 16-year rule, when opposition parties faced suppression, there was never a push for foreign invasion.

"Turaki's call is not only an admission of the party's incapacity to manage its internal contradictions, it must be taken as a final certification of the PDP's demise," the statement asserted.

Morka urged the international community to ignore what he called a "pitiful distraction" from the opposition's failures, warning that such pleas reveal the lengths to which PDP leaders will go to undermine President Bola Tinubu's administration.

He called on Nigerians to rally behind the APC and Tinubu's "visionary leadership" in pursuing national progress and prosperity.

The PDP has yet to respond to the APC's broadside, but the exchange underscores escalating tensions between Nigeria's two major parties as the opposition grapples with leadership battles and electoral setbacks.
