45 Kidnapped Victims Freed in Katsina Under Peace Deal with Bandits

Forty-five persons abducted from Guga in Doguwar Dorawa Fulani settlement and Gidan Danmayaki village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State have regained their freedom after weeks in captivity.

The victims, including men and women, were released on Monday afternoon through negotiations facilitated under the Operation Safe Corridor peace accord with a notorious bandit leader known as Isiya Kwashen Garwa.

They were freed around 2:00 pm and immediately handed over to the member representing Bakori Constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, who escorted them to the Comprehensive Health Centre in Bakori for medical checks.

Medical personnel confirmed that the victims were in stable condition despite their ordeal and have since been reunited with their families.

Security operatives and community leaders are maintaining heightened surveillance in the area to sustain the fragile peace and prevent reprisal attacks.

The release is the latest success recorded under the state government’s ongoing dialogue with repentant bandit commanders aimed at reducing kidnappings and violence across Katsina communities.
