Massad Boulos, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump
for Arab and African affairs, has dismissed swirling allegations of a Christian
genocide in Nigeria.
Boulos spoke in Abuja on Friday when he visited President
Bola Tinubu at the State House.
Trump’s adviser’s comments come as US lawmakers have
increasingly asked the president to impose sanctions on Nigeria as a country of
particular concern (CPC) over an alleged persecution of Christians.
But there has been no reaction from the White House over the
matter.
When asked about the government’s position during his visit
to Tinubu, Boulos said, “Those who know the terrain well know that terrorism
has no colour and no religion and no tribe”.
“People of all religions and all tribes are dying as a
result of terrorist acts, but it’s very unfortunate,” he added.
“We even know that Boko Haram and ISIS are killing more
Muslims than Christians. People are suffering from all sorts of backgrounds.
This
is not specifically targeted about one group or the other.
“However, any loss of life is one too many, and we should
work together in partnership to put an end to this.”
The US envoy noted that Nigeria’s middle belt has witnessed
deadly clashes between farmers and herders, with many of the farmer casualties
being Christians.
“But definitely it’s not something that we can say is
specifically targeted about a specific group,” he added.
Boulos described Nigeria as a melting pot of different
ethnic and religious groups, stressing an almost even split between Christians
and Muslims.
“This has never been a serious religious issue and should
not be,” he said.
The US official said the Tinubu-led administration has
recently taken additional measures to tackle insecurity, yielding improvements.
He said the US welcomed the moves and would continue to work
with Nigeria to ensure success.

President Tinubu is not doing enough to stop terrorism and kidnapping in the country. The government knows those who are behind the killings of innocent civilians across the country. But, he prefers to minimise defence spending to fight evil forces, but allows lawmakers to swims in comfort. Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic were more severely affected by terrorism few years ago, but with the emergence of military leadership in those countries, they have in less than three years eliminated 90% of all terror groups terrorising the Sahel Region. They acquired specific weapons and military hardware to fight against them, and these equipments came from Russia, China, Turkey, Iran and North Korea. Whereas in Nigeria, we rely solely on American weapons which are not sophisticated enough to eliminate these heavily armed evil forces. Most American weapons are not designed fighting against terrorists, even if they are, they are codified, and targets of these missiles or bullets can be re-directed from the Pentagon with the google navigating system towards another targets. America does not want Nigeria to win the war he’s fighting against Boko Haram and others. We must know that they support these deadly groups, they give them weapons, intelligence information, logistics and financial support. Our secret services should know this by now. America is our worst enemy, they have no friends but all they want is to protect their interests at any country’s detriment. If Nigeria wants to win the war against terrorism, he should get adaptable and sophisticated weapons from Russia, China, Iran, Turkey and North Korea, and I am convinced they will eliminate them in few months. Weapons from these countries have proven their effectiveness in Ukraine against NATO arsenals. NATO weapons or missiles defensive system were burned down by Russian army and today, I have the certainty that NATO will disintegrate and a birth of BRICS military Alliances
