Turaki Submits PDP Chairmanship Forms, Lamido Still Unable to Purchase

Former Minister of Special Duties and PDP National Chairmanship aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s Elective National Convention scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Turaki, widely endorsed as the consensus candidate by a majority of PDP stakeholders, including Northern governors, presented his forms at the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) Secretariat at Legacy House, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, Abuja, on Monday.

Accompanied by friends and political associates, the former minister expressed confidence in uniting the party and strengthening its position as a formidable opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, the submission process was overshadowed by controversy as another aspirant, former Jigawa State Governor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sule Lamido, faced obstacles in obtaining his nomination form.

Lamido, who visited the PDP national headquarters at Wadata Plaza earlier on Monday, found the office of the National Organising Secretary locked, with no officials available to attend to him.

Visibly frustrated, he told journalists, “If I am prevented from purchasing the form, I will seek redress in court. This is not the democracy the PDP stands for.”
