TETFund Unveils N717m Social Sciences Complex at Nasarawa State University

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has commissioned a N717.4 million state-of-the-art lecture theatre and office complex for the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

TETFund Board Chairman Aminu Masari inaugurated the facility on Tuesday at the university’s main campus, marking the third TETFund project commissioned at NSUK in recent years.

The complex, funded under the 2020/2021 merged annual intervention, includes:Four 200-seater lecture theatres, 22 en-suite offices, 12 public conveniences.

Masari praised NSUK’s leadership for transparency and efficiency, stating: “This institution has demonstrated a strong commitment to judicious use of funds with verifiable results.”

He revealed that since becoming a beneficiary in 2003, NSUK has accessed over N12.7 billion in TETFund interventions, with 80% visibly utilized across campus.

Nationwide, TETFund reported 71% completion of infrastructure projects in beneficiary institutions between January and September 2025.

Due to high exchange rates and cases of lecturer abscondment, Masari announced a temporary suspension of foreign training programs, redirecting focus to local capacity building, ICT, and sustainable power solutions.

Representing Executive Secretary Sonny Echono, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Babatunde Olajide commended NSUK for timely project delivery despite inflation challenges, urging sustained maintenance.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sa’adatu Liman hailed the facility as a “magnificent milestone,” noting it will enhance teaching, research, and staff welfare.

She proudly announced NSUK’s #1 ranking in Nigeria for Quality Education in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (SDG 4), crediting TETFund’s partnership.

Liman appealed for additional support for faculty buildings, lecture halls, and solar power infrastructure.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education John Mamman lauded TETFund’s transformative role in tertiary education.
