Speaker Abbas, Algerian Counterpart Sign MoU to Boost Parliamentary Ties

Nigeria and Algeria have committed to deepening democratic cooperation across Africa through enhanced parliamentary exchanges, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and his Algerian counterpart, Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The MoU, signed during Speaker Abbas’ working visit to Algeria, aims to strengthen the rule of law in both nations by sharing legislative experiences and establishing a Nigeria-Algeria Joint Parliamentary Committee.

This committee will operate under international law, guided by the principles of the African Union Charter.

Both parliaments agreed to collaborate on shared interests within regional and international parliamentary platforms, including the Pan-African Parliament, the African Parliamentary Union, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The agreement marks a significant step toward fostering mutual legislative initiatives and advancing democratic governance on the continent.
