Controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has reacted to the revocation of Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka’s US Visa.
President Donald Trump’s
administration has permanently revoked Soyinka’s visa.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday at Kongi’s Harvest
Gallery, Freedom Park, Lagos Island, Lagos, Soyinka, who broke the news, said
he was unaware of any action that could have prompted the revocation.
The move has, however, triggered reactions from concerned
Nigerians, especially social media users.
Reacting, Gumi, in a post on his official Facebook page on
Wednesday, likened the development to the revocation of his Saudi visa.
He attributed the move by the US government to alleged
decisions to silence voices of opposition.
“It reminds me of my Saudi visa revoke for no offence beside
freedom of speech.
“Poor them. You can’t silence those who don’t need you to
survive”, Gumi wrote on Facebook.
