Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, a prominent Nigerian businessman and former lawmaker, announced his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his belief in President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and transformative vision for Nigeria.
In a statement released today, Murray-Bruce expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms, describing them as the foundation for the country’s future prosperity.
Murray-Bruce, who has known Tinubu since 1998, praised the president’s deep understanding of finance and commitment to a free-market economy.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, we have a President who truly understands finance, who sees the economy not as a political slogan, but as a living organism that must be disciplined, deregulated, and allowed to breathe,” he said.
He highlighted the administration’s efforts to stabilize the economy, strengthen the naira, and restore investor confidence through professional leadership at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The senator also commended Tinubu’s national security reforms, noting that the appointment of the National Security Adviser has significantly improved Nigeria’s safety architecture, with insecurity being “quietly and systematically dismantled.”
Additionally, he pointed to the deregulation of the fuel supply, which he said has ended the era of fuel scarcity, and a revitalized foreign policy that has restored Nigeria’s global standing.
Murray-Bruce emphasized Tinubu’s unprecedented infrastructural developments, including massive road networks, modernized ports, airports, and housing schemes, which he described as “the arteries through which growth and opportunity now flow.”
While acknowledging the challenges faced by many Nigerians due to the ongoing reforms, he urged citizens to remain patient, stating, “Reform is never painless, but it is in these moments of sacrifice that nations are reborn.”
In declaring his support for the APC, Murray-Bruce clarified that his decision was driven by a commitment to progress, not politics. He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, predicting “phenomenal growth” over the course of Tinubu’s eight-year term.
“I choose to stand with reform. I choose to stand with the future,” he concluded.The announcement has sparked discussions across political circles, with many viewing Murray-Bruce’s move as a significant endorsement of Tinubu’s policies and leadership.
