The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced plans to pursue the forfeiture of Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, after conducting a raid on the venue during a suspected drug party over the weekend.
In a statement issued by spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the agency issued a stern warning to nightclub owners, event centers, and property managers: hosting drug-related events could result in the permanent loss of their assets to the Federal Government.
During the operation, Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, was arrested alongside more than 100 partygoers.
The raid was triggered by intelligence reports of a drug-themed event at the club.NDLEA undercover operatives monitored the venue from approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, before storming the premises around 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Agents recovered cartons of illicit substances, including Canadian Loud and laughing gas, from both attendees and the club’s storage areas.
The NDLEA emphasized that drug parties constitute criminal offenses under the NDLEA Act. All arrested individuals are undergoing screening to assess their involvement.
While the majority of guests were profiled, counseled, and released, Pretty Mike and his manager, Joachin Millary, remain in custody.
Authorities seized 384.882kg of cannabis and additional drugs during the operation.
The agency confirmed it will initiate legal proceedings to confiscate the nightclub and vowed to intensify nationwide crackdowns on similar events.
It called on parents, community leaders, and the public to stay vigilant and support efforts to combat drug abuse, which it described as a rising danger to youth and public safety.
