The naira recorded its first appreciation against the United
States dollar this week at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.
Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the Naira gained to
N1,471.02 per dollar on Thursday, up from N1,473.29 on Wednesday, when it
recorded the highest dip in the week under review.
Thursday’s uptrend showed that the Naira strengthened by
N2.27 against the Dollar on a day-to-day basis.
However, despite Thursday’s gain, the Naira is yet to
recover from the losses recorded in the past three days.
At the black market, the Naira remained flat at N1,500 per
dollar, according to multiple Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja,
on Thursday.
The development comes as the country’s external reserves
stood at $42.67 billion as of October 15th, 2025, up from $42.65 billion
recorded the previous day, according to the apex bank data.
