Lagos Ministry Rescues Woman Who Tried to Sue 'the Sun' at Panti Police Station

In a bizarre incident that has left officers baffled and social media buzzing, a well-dressed but mentally distressed woman arrived at Panti Police Station via Uber from Lekki, demanding to file an official complaint against the sun.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman, whose identity remains protected, insisted the sun was "harassing" her and needed to be "arrested immediately."

Police on duty, unsure how to charge a celestial body, quickly contacted the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

Acting on a tip received through Instagram, the Ministry’s Rapid Rescue Team mobilized within minutes.

The woman was calmly taken into protective custody and transferred to a state-owned rehabilitation center, where she is now receiving urgent psychiatric care and medical support.

"She looked completely normal at first glance – expensive outfit, designer bag, perfect makeup," said a source at the station.

"Then she started pointing at the sky and shouting, ‘That thing up there won’t leave me alone!’ We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry."

Hon. Commissioner Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende praised the team’s swift intervention: “This is exactly why we have a 24/7 rescue unit. Mental health crises don’t announce themselves, but quick public reporting saves lives.”

Permanent Secretary Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu reinforced the Ministry’s “See Something, Say Something” campaign, urging Lagosians to report vulnerable individuals in distress.

“One Instagram message saved a life today,” she said. “Don’t hesitate. Call 0913 205 5075 your alert could be someone’s second chance.”

The rescued woman is responding positively to treatment, according to medical staff. Her family has been contacted and is en route to Lagos.
