Kebbi ADC demand end to incessant insecurity

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State has expressed concern over the growing cases of political thuggery and insecurity across the state, calling for urgent measures to address the situation.

The party made the call during a press briefing after its stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Chiroman Kabi, Ibrahim Mohammed-Mera, said the meeting focused on the worsening security challenges and the rise of political violence in the state.

He cited a recent incident in Argungu, where thugs allegedly attacked people during a wedding Fatiha in a mosque, describing it as “unacceptable” and a “dangerous signal ahead of future political activities.”

“It is unbecoming for any political leader to support or finance such acts. ADC condemns these incidents in totality and calls for peace to prevail in Kebbi,” he said.

Mohammed-Mera lamented that insecurity was spreading across the state, recalling the recent killing of a Nigerian soldier in Sakaba Local Government Area.

He said banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities have continued unabated, leaving citizens traumatised, farmlands deserted, and economic activities crippled.

The ADC chieftain urged the state and federal governments, as well as security agencies, to adopt coordinated, intelligence-driven strategies to restore peace and order.

He also cautioned against the use of intimidation and aggression by political actors, warning that such actions undermine democratic values.
