Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the inaugural Director of the newly upgraded Directorate of Force Medical Services, marking a major milestone in police healthcare reform.
The appointment, announced Thursday, follows the recent elevation of the Force Medical Section to a full Directorate, a strategic move to deliver comprehensive, accessible, and efficient medical care to officers and personnel nationwide.
AIG Eze, a seasoned dental surgeon and public health expert with over 27 years of distinguished service, brings extensive clinical and administrative experience to the role.
A native of Agbudu in Udi LGA, Enugu State, and born in Umuahia, Abia State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife) and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Throughout her career, AIG Eze has served in key formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she played pivotal roles in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and promoting officer welfare.
In his charge to the new Director, IGP Egbetokun urged her to harness her expertise to transform the Directorate into a benchmark of excellence in police medical services.
He described the upgrade as a critical investment in personnel well-being, directly linked to enhanced operational effectiveness.
“This Directorate represents our unwavering commitment to the health and productivity of our officers,” the IGP stated.
