The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) has bestowed its prestigious Fellowship award on Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, recognizing his exceptional contributions to infrastructure development and exemplary engineering governance.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday, October 23, 2025.The conferment occurred during NICE’s two-day Annual Conference and General Meeting in Kano, where engineers from across Nigeria convened to discuss innovative solutions for advancing the country’s infrastructure.
Engr. Otunba Ajanaku, NICE’s National Chairman, presented the award, praising Governor Yusuf for his transformative leadership in infrastructure renewal and urban development.
Ajanaku described Yusuf as “a leader who has turned Kano into Nigeria’s largest construction hub through visionary, people-focused projects.”
In his response, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining high engineering standards in all infrastructural projects across Kano State.
He stated that the recognition would spur his government to further prioritize quality roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and other essential facilities to enhance the lives of Kano residents.
Yusuf also pledged to strengthen partnerships with professional bodies like NICE to ensure transparency, accountability, and technical excellence in project implementation, underscoring his dedication to sustainable development in the state.
