Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd), Gombe State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, perished in a motor accident on Friday along the Malam Sidi–Gombe road.
The crash also claimed the life of his police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, while his driver, injured in the incident, is receiving medical treatment.
According to Ismaila Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) at Government House Gombe, Bello was returning from Maiduguri, where he attended the North-East Regional Consultation on the National Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration framework, when the accident occurred.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed deep sorrow, describing Bello as “a disciplined officer and dedicated public servant” whose military experience and patriotism greatly benefited Gombe State.
“Col. Abdullahi Bello will be remembered for his discipline, courage, and selfless service,” Yahaya said.
The governor extended condolences to Bello’s family, associates, and the Balanga Local Government community, praying for Allah’s forgiveness and Aljannat Firdaus for the deceased.
He also wished for the swift recovery of the injured driver.
