FIFA has revealed Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, a vibrant fusion of cutting-edge technology and cultural tributes to the tournament’s co-hosts: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Designed by Adidas, FIFA’s ball supplier since 1970, Trionda was unveiled by President Gianni Infantino at a New York event on Thursday, marking a key milestone in the countdown to the first-ever three-nation World Cup, set for June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The ball’s design reflects the unity of the host nations, featuring red, blue, and green colors alongside iconic symbols: maple leaves for Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and stars for the United States.
The name Trionda, inspired by the tri-nation collaboration, complements a triangular motif symbolizing their shared hosting.
Beyond aesthetics, Trionda boasts advanced technology, including deep seams for enhanced in-flight stability, embossed icons for better grip in wet conditions, and a motion sensor chip that relays real-time data to the video assistant referee (VAR) system.
“I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda,” Infantino declared, celebrating the ball as a symbol of innovation and unity for the 48-team tournament, the largest in World Cup history.
The unveiling coincides with FIFA’s ongoing preparations, including phased ticket sales that have already attracted over 4.5 million fans from 216 countries and territories in the presale draw.
The tournament draw is scheduled for December 5 in Washington, D.C.As anticipation builds for the North American World Cup, Trionda embodies both cultural pride and technological prowess, setting the stage for a historic global celebration of football.
