The Edo State House of Assembly has received a directive from the state government to investigate two projects initiated by former Governor Godwin Obaseki: the Radisson Blu Hotel and the Edo Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA).
The letter, issued by the Secretary to the State Government and read by Clerk Audu Omogbai during Monday’s session in Benin, prompted Speaker Blessing Agbebaku to announce the formation of an ad-hoc committee at the next sitting to probe the projects thoroughly.
In another development, the Assembly received a request from Governor Monday Okpebholo, signed by SSG Musa Ikhilo, for the screening and confirmation of nominees to the Edo State Judicial Service Commission.
The Speaker referred this to the House Committee on Judiciary for swift action.Additionally, the House passed the second reading of a bill to repeal the 1984 Edo State Private Health Facility (Prohibition) Law, proposing its replacement with the Edo Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA).
The Assembly also celebrated the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, on his birthday and 9th coronation anniversary and observed a minute of silence for the late Gbenga Agun, former Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Edo State Command.
