Denmark’s wealthiest individual, Anders Holch Povlsen, met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, to discuss expanded bilateral cooperation in trade, digital innovation, and sustainable development.
Povlsen, the billionaire owner of global fashion giant BESTSELLER and founder of the BESTSELLER Foundation, was accompanied by Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Bach Hansen.
The closed-door meeting also had in attendance Nigeria’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the talks centered on attracting Danish investment into Nigeria’s technology, renewable energy, and youth entrepreneurship sectors.
President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s ongoing reforms in the digital economy and green transition, urging Danish firms to partner with local startups and leverage the country’s young talent pool.
Povlsen expressed interest in sustainable fashion supply chains, climate-resilient agriculture, and skills development programs, pledging deeper engagement through the Bestseller Foundation.
The visit signals growing economic ties between Nigeria and Denmark, with both sides committing to follow-up actions on investment frameworks and joint initiatives.
