The Council of State meeting is ongoing with President Bola Tinubu presiding.
The meeting which started at about 1:29 p.m. on Thursday, is holding at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The president is expected to present nominees for the council for consideration as the next Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Agenda of the meeting revealed that Tinubu is expected to present three nominees for the Council’s consideration.
The nominees are Prof. Joash Amupitan, Justice Abdullahi Mohammed Liman, and Prof. Lai Olurede.
This comes about 48 hours after Prof. Mahmood Yakubu departed as INEC Chairman.
The three expected nominees being screened as Yakubu’s successor are academic professionals.
