Angry Mob Lynches Three Suspected Kidnappers in Edo Community

Three individuals suspected of kidnapping were brutally killed by an angry mob in Emu Orakwan community, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, in a violent outburst that has raised concerns about rising vigilante justice in the region.

According to local sources, the incident unfolded around 5 p.m. on October 6, when hunters and farmers spotted the suspects at Akabueze camp, a known hideout in the area.

The trio was allegedly linked to the gruesome m^rder of a local woman, Mrs. Ogbona, on October 1, a crime that had sparked outrage among residents.

Enraged by the sighting, villagers and farmers swiftly mobilized, confronting the suspects and attacking them with severe force.

By the time security operatives, including army troops and police personnel, arrived at the scene, the suspects were already on the brink of death, having sustained critical injuries.

The security team rushed the victims to the General Hospital, where medical staff pronounced them dead on arrival.

The bodies have since been transferred to Imiuwuguina Mortuary, pending further investigation by authorities.

While the incident reflects the community’s frustration with recurring kidnappings, it has also spotlighted the dangers of mob justice, with officials urging residents to allow law enforcement to handle such cases.

An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full circumstances of the lynching and the suspects’ alleged crimes.
