Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, Babagana Umara Zulum, led a delegation of governors from the North East to meet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The governors, including Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Bala Muhammad (Bauchi), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), and Agbu Keffas (Taraba), pressed for the completion of 17 critical road projects and the resumption of oil exploration in the Kolmani and Lake Chad frontier wells.
Zulum highlighted the importance of completing key roads, including the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt-Jos-Bauchi-Maiduguri Railway, Bama-Mubi-Yola Road, Wukari-Jalingo-Yola Road, and others, to enhance connectivity across the six North East states.
He praised Tinubu’s efforts in restoring peace to the region and sustaining the fight against insurgency, pledging the governors’ support for initiatives focused on manpower training, technology, and agricultural development to bolster food security under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Zulum expressed the governors’ commitment to partnering with Tinubu’s administration to deliver good governance and lasting legacies for Nigeria.
In response, President Tinubu assured the delegation of his government’s dedication to addressing the developmental needs of the North East, particularly in infrastructure and economic growth.
