Uche Ekwunife Issues Apology to Governor Soludo, Wife Over Infidelity Allegations

In a dramatic turn of events in Anambra State’s heated political landscape, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, has issued a public apology to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Nonye Soludo, following allegations of infidelity leveled against Mrs. Soludo.

The apology comes amidst a highly publicized war of words that has gripped the state ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.

The controversy began when Governor Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), questioned the authenticity of Senator Ekwunife’s academic qualifications, specifically alleging that her PhD was obtained from an unaccredited institution.

In a fiery response, Ekwunife retaliated by dragging the governor’s wife into the dispute, claiming in a viral video that Nonye Soludo was part of the administration of the late Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999–2003) and insinuating an affair, even questioning the paternity of her children.

Mrs. Soludo, known for her reserved demeanor, responded with a strongly worded statement, describing Ekwunife’s allegations as “malicious” and “fabricated.”

She issued a 72-hour ultimatum for Ekwunife to retract the claims and apologize, threatening legal action if unmet.

In an unprecedented challenge, Mrs. Soludo proposed that both women swear an oath of fidelity before the Blessed Sacrament in a Catholic cathedral and subject their children to paternity tests in three reputable London hospitals, with all expenses covered by her.

“In my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man, Chukwuma Soludo. I married him as a virgin, and my fidelity to him in 33 years of marriage is ironclad,” she declared, emphasizing her Christian upbringing and personal integrity.

In a press release dated September 16, 2025, signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Ezike, Senator Ekwunife backtracked, offering an apology to the governor, his wife, and the general public.

The statement addressed a specific article falsely attributed to her camp, which alleged that Mrs. Soludo had children with PDP chieftain Chief Chris Uba.

“Sen. Uche Ekwunife categorically states that although she has been maligned, defamed, and disparaged by the governor’s media team, the said publication did not emanate from her or her camp,” the statement read.

“She further wishes to apologise to the Governor, his wife, and the general public who may have been affected by the altercations of the past few days.

“Sen. Ekwunife calls on her supporters to remain focused and avoid any media writing that may suggest altercation with the First Family or any other person as she continues with her campaigns.
