President Bola Tinubu will attend the coronation of High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, marking a historic moment for the city.
The coronation planning committee, chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, announced a weeklong cultural celebration to honor the event and Ibadan’s Yoruba heritage.
The festivities, starting September 22, include an interdenominational service at Olubadan Palace, a cultural fiesta at Olubadan Stadium, a coronation lecture by Prof. Toyin Falola, a praise concert coinciding with Oba Ladoja’s 81st birthday, a thanksgiving service, and a Jumat service.
The events, supported by Governor Seyi Makinde, will draw dignitaries, traditional rulers, and Ibadan indigenes worldwide, with live broadcasts on TV and social media.
Oyero praised Ladoja, a former senator and Oyo State governor, for his leadership, signaling a new era for Ibadan.
Over 2,000 security personnel, including Police and Amotekun Corps, will ensure safety.
