Sweden’s newly appointed Health Minister, Elisabet Lann, collapsed during her inaugural press conference on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Video footage captured the moment when Lann, who had just finished speaking, fainted mid-event, causing her lectern to fall as others laughed lightly.
Government security personnel quickly assisted her. Lann later returned to the stage, explaining that a drop in blood sugar levels caused her to faint.
Local media reported that Lann was named Health Minister on the same day, following the sudden resignation of her predecessor, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, on Monday. Before her appointment, Lann served as a municipal councilor in Gothenburg.
