Lere Olayinka, a Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has tackled former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for condemning the conduct of last Saturday’s local government election in Rivers State.
Olayinka, who described Atiku as a permanent presidential
campaigner, said his remark was “nonsensical.”
He said Atiku who was not courageous enough to condemn the
murder of Deborah in Sokoto should not condemn the result of the local
government election in Rivers State.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, won 20 LGAs, while the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, secured three LGAs.
The election results announced were only between APC and
PDP.
The total number of votes scored by the council chairmen who
won in the 23 LGAs is 2,028,871.
But, Atiku had said the results indicated that a powerful
cabal was trying to usurp democratic interest in the state.
Atiku called on the opposition to reject the results because
it’s not a reflection of the Rivers people.
However, posting on X, Olayinka wrote: “Permanent
Presidential Runner, Atiku Abubakar is condemning Rivers State LG elections.
“Issorite. The same Atiku, who did a tweet condemning the
murder of Deborah in Sokoto, and quickly deleted it?
“Someone who is not bold, courageous and honest enough to
condemn murder that was openly done, is condemning LG elections. Nonsensical
Nonsense!”
