The Nigeria Police Force has refuted claims that a court has barred the enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass law, scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 2, 2025, according to spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The clarification comes amid public outcry over the weekend, with some Nigerians asserting that the police were defying a court ruling due to a lawsuit filed by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) challenging the law’s requirement for tinted glass permits.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Monday, September 29, 2025, Hundeyin dismissed the allegations, stating, “No court has given an order for the suspension of the law.”
He confirmed that the police will proceed with the enforcement as planned, urging the public to disregard misinformation suggesting otherwise.
The controversy stems from the NBA’s legal challenge questioning the authority of the police to mandate tinted glass permits, with critics arguing that enforcement should be paused while the matter remains in court.
Hundeyin’s statement reaffirms the police’s position, signaling their intent to implement the law without delay despite ongoing legal debates.
