The Oyo State Police Command has highlighted the vital role of its ongoing Stop-and-Search operations in curbing crime and ensuring public safety across highways, intersections, and adjoining roads.
In a statement released on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Command detailed two significant outcomes from a routine operation conducted along the Toll Gate axis of the Ibadan expressway on Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m.
According to a post on the Oyo State Police Command’s X handle, a Federal Highway Patrol team intercepted a white bus (registration XA 551 IRG) and arrested its occupant, Alfa Basiru, who was found with suspected human flesh.
The suspect claimed the substance was purchased in Lagos and has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further investigation.
The item is currently undergoing forensic analysis to verify its nature and origin. In a separate incident during the same operation, police flagged down a Toyota Camry (registration LSD 957 JX).
The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The car is now in police custody, and the Command has called on anyone with legitimate claims to the vehicle to come forward with verifiable documents and contact the police at +234 808 176 8614.
The Command stressed that these operations are deliberate, strategic measures to maintain law and order, not mere theatrics.
Expressing gratitude for public cooperation, the Oyo State Police assured residents and travelers of sustained efforts to combat crime and enhance safety across the state.
