Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has officially declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) "dead and buried," announcing his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The outspoken politician, known for his fiery rhetoric and unyielding stance against perceived corruption, went further, alleging that the PDP had been "sold" to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving behind only an "APC-controlled PDP" without even a "receipt of payment" to show for it.
Melaye's dramatic statement came during an exclusive interview on Arise Television's Prime Time on Monday evening, where he elaborated on his decision to abandon the party that once propelled him to national prominence.
"The PDP is dead and buried; I am no longer a member. I'm now a member of the ADC," Melaye declared, emphasizing that the once-vibrant opposition party has lost its soul to influences from the Presidential Villa.
"PDP was sold, and I am not sure they got the receipt of payment, but it has been sold. What's there now is an APC-controlled PDP," he added, pointing fingers at APC agents allegedly pulling the strings from the highest echelons of power.
The defection, which Melaye formalized in late July, marks a significant escalation in his ongoing feud with the PDP.
