Omokri Labels Obi 'a Tribalist', Questions Silence on Simon Ekpa’s Six-Year Sentence

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has accused Peter Obi, ex-Governor of Anambra State, of tribalism, suggesting he may remain silent on the six-year prison sentence handed to Simon Ekpa by a Finnish court for terrorism.

Omokri, in a post on X on September 1, 2025, noted that Obi quickly addressed the arrest of Dele Farotimi for criminal defamation but has not commented on Ekpa’s case.

Omokri pointed out Obi’s July 7, 2025, Channels Television appearance, where he questioned the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, contrasting it with Obi’s call for the arrest and trial of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1 De Ultimate) after an altercation with ValueJet.

Omokri alleged that Obi’s silence on issues involving Igboland, compared to his vocal stance on incidents in the North or Southwest, reflects a tribalistic pattern.

“Nigerians are watching to see if Obi will stay silent on Ekpa’s sentence or speak out,” Omokri stated.
