Ogun Govt Orders Contractor to Revise Senator Gbenga Daniel’s Road Project Designs

The Ogun State Government has directed Minim and Tonye Nigeria Limited, the contractor managing Senator Gbenga Daniel’s constituency road project on Paddy Arikawe Oye Igbimo Road in Sagamu, to revise its engineering designs to meet state specifications.

The directive, issued after the contractor submitted a bill of quantities on Monday, September 22, 2025, follows a prior warning for starting work without state approval.

In a letter dated September 22, 2025, signed by Engr. Dr. Yusuf I. O, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, the government rejected the contractor’s current design for failing to meet required standards.

The 3-kilometer project, divided into four phases, has only received approval for the first 260-meter phase, with the contractor asked to clarify which section this covers.

The Ministry mandated specific standards: Grade 20 concrete for binding, a minimum of Grade 25 for the reinforced concrete base, walkways, and deck with a tensile strength of at least 460 N/mm², and a 220mm-thick reinforced concrete pavement of Grade 35, preferably Grade 40, instead of the proposed 150mm Grade 20.

The stone base must be 200mm thick. The contractor was further instructed to submit revised drawings, including a full layout with elevations, grades, pavement reinforcement details, a complete list of engineering materials, quality assurance testing documentation, and design criteria codes.
