Officers and men of the Nigerian Army are set to receive new uniforms adopted by the military.
The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede
announced this on Wednesday when he visited Godwin Ally Barracks, Ogoja, in
Cross River State.
He noted that new uniforms and essential kits are to be
distributed to all personnel as part of efforts to standardize operational
readiness and boost morale under the ‘Soldiers First’ initiative.
A statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public
Relations, Lt. Col. Appolonia Anele, released at the end of the visit, said
scholls in Army barracks across the country are to be revamped in order to
provide quality education for soldiers’ children.
The COAS emphasized his commitment to the welfare of
personnel, and directed the renovation of dilapidated accommodations in the
Godwin Ally barrack.
The Army chief also noted the recent improvements in troop
welfare, including the increase in Ration Cash Allowance, which he said has
enabled commanders to provide better feeding for soldiers.
Oluyede charged the troops to uphold professionalism and
discipline, stressing the importance of synergy with other security agencies
and host communities in order to achieve lasting peace and stability in the
country.
The visit was part of the COAS’s assessment tour of
formations and units under the 82 Division Area of Responsibility.
During the visit, he interacted with troops and expressed
appreciation for their efforts despite challenging operational demands.
