The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) welcomed a delegation from the Finnish Immigration Service at its headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to discuss enhanced cooperation in migration management.
The visit, announced by NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi via a statement on X, was hosted by Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) A. Baba-Ahmed, representing Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap, and led by Topias Tamminen, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of Finland.
The meeting focused on key issues, including migration management, travel document issuance, and the handling of international students and returnees to Nigeria.
ACG Baba-Ahmed conveyed the NIS’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and knowledge exchange to align with global best practices.
The Comptroller-General, through Baba-Ahmed, emphasized that such collaborations enhance institutional capacity and elevate Nigeria’s role in global migration governance.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between Nigeria and Finland, promoting effective and sustainable migration policies.
