Nigerian Troops Arrest Soldier, Police Officer for Alleged Arms Smuggling to Boko Haram

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have detained a serving soldier and a police officer for allegedly supplying arms and logistics to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Nigeria’s North East.

A reliable source from Army Headquarters, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), revealed that the arrests occurred between September 26 and 28 during intelligence-driven operations.

On September 26, troops intercepted suspicious movements of military-grade ammunition along a known terrorist supply route in Borno.

This led to a sting operation on September 27, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects, who were found with rifles, ammunition, and communication devices.

Preliminary investigations confirmed their alleged involvement in a broader terror supply network, which is now under surveillance.

The suspects are currently in military custody for interrogation and will face disciplinary action before being transferred for prosecution.

The source described the arrests as a critical step in dismantling insider collusion and disrupting terrorist logistics networks.

Additionally, troops apprehended a suspected Boko Haram collaborator in Baga, Borno, and intercepted three motorcycles carrying 32 jerry cans of petrol in Kasuwan Dere, Mubi South, Adamawa.

In the North West, troops from 17 Brigade arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and an informant in Kankara, Katsina, with links to an arms dealer known as Babaru.

One suspect escaped by scaling a fence, but several kidnap victims were rescued in related operations across other regions.
