The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended six suspects in connection with a deadly assault on Police Tactical Teams by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, claimed the lives of three police officers, with seven others still missing.Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is spearheading efforts to rescue the missing officers and capture remaining suspects.
The arrested individuals are providing valuable information to investigators.Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, condemned the attack as “cruel, unwarranted, and an affront to the people of Benue State.”
He ordered the deployment of additional tactical resources to the region and vowed to dismantle the criminal networks responsible.
The Police Force urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations, emphasizing intensified efforts to locate the missing officers and restore peace in Katsina-Ala and surrounding areas.
