Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali to Expose Nigerian Politicians Funding Militants

Intelligence agencies from Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, and Mali are preparing to reveal the identities of top Nigerian politicians accused of financing and arming militants, according to DW, a German news agency.

The report claims these agencies have already identified the politicians involved, with some arrests made and investigations underway.

Nigeria has faced persistent insecurity for decades, with recurring allegations of politicians sponsoring armed groups. In May, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum accused certain politicians and military personnel of acting as informants and collaborators for Boko Haram.

“We have informants and collaborators within the Nigerian armed forces, among politicians, and within the communities,” Zulum stated.

In August, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, vowed to unmask terrorism supporters, noting that the process is ongoing but complicated by legal and international issues.

“It has to do with a lot of legal issues, and because again, it has to do with international connections,” Musa explained.
