The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its authority to regulate physical planning at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, citing a 2003 Supreme Court ruling and the 2019 Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning Law.
Commissioner for Physical Planning, Oluyinka Olumide, emphasized that all developers, including those on federal land like the Trade Fair Complex, must secure planning permits and adhere to state regulations.
Following repeated non-compliance, the government has stopped unauthorized and unsafe constructions within the complex.
This action comes after warnings and a regularization notice issued in November 2023 were ignored.
Olumide stated that the enforcement aligns with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda, which prioritizes safety, order, and sustainable development across Lagos.
